Description
It is said that Thomas "Fats" Waller (1904-1943) signed with a record company after playing at a party thrown by George Gershwin (another well known composer and pianist). Two of his works were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, one in 1984 and another in 1999. The 1978 Broadway musical "Ain't Misbehavin'", also the title to one of his Grammy songs, can still be found on stages around the country. It's a small wonder that he was once kidnapped, and brought at gunpoint, to play at a party for Al Capone.
